CONFIRMED:
JETTA: The SportWagen (that's how they're spelling it), originally scheduled to be released as a 2008 model, will make its debut in 2009. Also new: The long-anticipated return of the TDI diesel, a 2.0 liter engine that produces 140 horsepower and 235 lb-ft of torque.
PASSAT CC: The Passat CC is what VW calls a four-door coupe, similar in shape to the Mercedes-Benz CLS. The car will slot in above the top-of-the-line Passat 3.6, but won't reach as high as the $80-$100k Phaeton.
TIGUAN: Volkswagen's new small crossover SUV arrives in 2008 as a 2009 model. Significantly smaller than the Touareg, the Tiguan will feature the 200 horsepower turbocharged engine from the GTI/GLI/Passat with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed Direct Shift Gearbox automatic.
RUMORED:
NEW BEETLE: The current New Beetle is going to be with us for quite a bit longer -- the new New Beetle isn't expected until 2012.
RABBIT: VW is expected to introduce the next-generation Golf/Rabbit in late 2008 as a 2009 model. Standard operating procedure for a new Golf is to release in Europe first, then introduce the model in the US and Canada a year later.
Next: Volvo
