CONFIRMED:
ELANTRA TOURING: The 2009 Elantra Touring is a 5-door mini-wagon verison of the Elantra sedan introduced in 2007. Though the two cars share a name and an engine, the Elantra Touring gets unique (and, if you ask me, infinitely more handsome) styling and a sport-tuned suspension. Think of it as a Korean Mazda3 hatchback.
GENESIS: Hyundai's top-of-the-line Genesis sedan will make its debut for the 2009 model year. Though the Genesis is targeting cars like the Chrysler 300, Toyota Avalon and Pontiac G8, Hyundai says their design and engineering targets were the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and BMW 5-series. The rear-wheel-drive Genesis will offer a choice of 3.3 and 3.8 liter V6 engines as well as a 4.6 liter V8 producing approximately 375 horsepower.
GENESIS COUPE: Contrary to popular belief, the Genesis Coupe is not the replacement for the Tiburon -- it's an all-new rear-wheel-drive car that shares its underpinnings with the Genesis sedan. Engine choices will be a 200+ hp turbocharged four-cylinder engine or a 200+ hp 3.8 liter V6. The Genesis Coupe will go on sale in Spring 2009 as a 2010 model.
SONATA: The 2009 Sonata gets a round of updates, including updated styling, revised interior, improved engines that turn out more power with better fuel economy, and a suspension tuned to deliver a firmer ride and sportier handling.
